Finding Peace with God

So many times we meet people who say that they cannot find peace with God.  They've been told to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, but they misunderstand the command to believe.  While they think they are obeying it, they are really unbelievers.  They miss that peace.  We've got to realize what we're supposed to do when we believe in Jesus Christ.  We've got to have a personal relationship with Jesus.  I mean, He's my buddy. He should be your buddy. You can talk to Him at any time, depend on Him for anything. . . Now we don't like to see people in this shape and we try to comfort them.  What do we say?  Listen folks, we need to tell these people how to get the comfort they are seeking and the peace that they desire instead of just merely sympathizing with them.  If I come by you and you're stuck in the mud with your car, you'd be upset if I said, "You'll be okay, you'll get our eventually. Somebody will come along after a while and pull you out."  No, you want that comfort and peace that comes when you get out of the mud.  That's what we need to do.  (From the sermon, "Getting Right with God", November 7, 2021).
